CNAPThe application is eligible if the applicant is a photographer, an artist-author (or a collective of artists made up of individuals) who meets the following cumulative conditions:
Actively participates in the French artistic scene;
Has a professional artistic approach, which must be validated through solo exhibitions in galleries, photography dissemination venues, book publications, press publications, or state aid (such as individual creation grants from DRAC, CNC support…);
Is of French nationality, regardless of their place of residence, or a foreign national permanently residing in France;
Has not received a negative opinion for an application concerning the same project, regardless of any modifications made to the project and the specific Cnap support program concerned;
If they have previously received financial aid under this program, they have submitted to Cnap the report on the realization of the supported project.
Waiting Periods
The application is eligible if the applicant:
Has not received financial aid under another Cnap support or acquisition program in the calendar year preceding the application;
Has not received financial aid under this specific support program in the four calendar years preceding the application;
Has not received a negative opinion for a support request under this program in the two calendar years preceding the application;
Has not received an individual creation grant from the regional cultural affairs departments (DRAC) of the Ministry of Culture in the year preceding the application.
Combination with Other Support Programs
Alongside their application under this program, the applicant may not simultaneously apply for support for an artistic project alone or, through a producer, for Image/movement support.
They may submit a purchase proposal either themselves or through their gallery. However, an acquisition involving an artist and financial support cannot be granted in the same year. In cases where scheduling overlaps, the decision will favor the earliest commission's verdict between acquisition/commission and support.
The applicant may apply for:
An individual creation grant (AIC) from the regional cultural affairs departments (DRAC) of the Ministry of Culture;
Residencies at the Institut Français’ Villa Médicis and Villa Kujoyama.
However, if awarded, the Cnap grant is not cumulative with these opportunities.
Applications for similar projects cannot be submitted in conjunction with Ministry of Culture commissions and open calls, regardless of the application year (e.g., "Mondes nouveaux," "Radioscopie de la France"…).
The combination of Cnap support with other national, public, or private aid, as well as other residencies or grants from the Institut Français, may be accepted.
Grant Amount
Flat rate: €5,000, €10,000, or €15,000.
Eligible expenses may include, depending on the phase of research and/or production covered: travel and accommodation expenses, technical assistance, purchase of documentation, service fees (e.g., technical costs), research and writing time, technical production costs, etc.
