OtherThe eidolon Grant is an international programme that is presented annually to artists, academics, professionals, researchers, collectors and vernacular photography enthusiasts whose past work and proposed project is centred around the image heritage of everyday photography.
The eidolon Grant aims to identify phenomena, collections, histories, practices, and trends within vernacular photography with the aim of offering new interpretations and analyses. Thematising both photographic heritages and contemporary photographic practices is eidolon’s mission and we invite you to join us in this important exploration. Each chosen project will contribute to the enrichment of our institution's program in the coming year.
How to apply for this category
E-mail us until 30 August 2024: info@everydayphotography.org with the following information
If you apply with an idea that is fully financed by the Grant (such as: artworks and site specific works, digital projects, workshops or workshop series, etc.), please send us an abstract no longer than 5000 characters highlighting the focus and main narrative of the idea in question.
If you apply with an idea that the Eidolon Grant partially covers and is in need of a bigger budget (such as: short documentary, video essay and Youtube-special, group or solo exhibition, talk event or talk event series, masterclass, research group, etc.) please send us an abstract of no longer than 10.000 characters highlighting the focus and main narrative of the idea in question, a brief argument about the significance of the chosen topic, and a draft timeline of the realisation process.
Please attach a short CV and a summary of your previously realised projects.
Please include a short budget demonstrating how the Grant would facilitate the realisation of your project.
If you intend to work with a third party (an archive, collection or institution) please include their declaration of consent in your application.
Disbursement of the Eidolon Grant
Announcement of the grant winners and their awarded Grant amount will be published in October – the decision will be made by the Eidolon team and an international jury.
We will reach out to the winners right after the announcement to finalise the paperwork necessary for receiving the grant.
Winners who applied for a small or medium-scale project idea will receive 50% of the awarded amount after the announcement and signing a grant agreement, and 20% after sending in the final project draft for Eidolon’s approval, and 30% after the project’s realisation. Winners who applied with a project larger in scale will receive 30% of the awarded amount after the announcement and signing a grant agreement, and the rest based on the nature of the project, according to the agreement made with the applicant.
The Grant disbursement stages outlined above are also feedback opportunities for the Eidolon team on the material in development
