PH MuseumThe 12th edition of the PhMuseum Photography Grant is now open for submissions.
From today you can present your projects to the open call that offers €10,000 in
cash prizes to support photographers and recognise the importance of visual
storytelling. Beyond the monetary prizes, your work will be considered for several
opportunities to exhibit, produce work, get feedback and exposure.
Three applicants will be granted the opportunity to exhibit their work thanks to our collaboration with leading photography institutions. For the sixth consecutive year, the team of PhEST (Monopoli, Italy) will select a project among all the submissions to be showcased at the 2024 edition of the festival. For the fifth time in a row, another work will be exhibited at Getxophoto (Getxo, Spain), selected by the new Artistic Director Maria Ptqk for the main program of the Basque festival 2024 edition. In addition to the show production, the winner will receive an artist fee of €400 and accommodation for 2 nights during the Opening Week. Moreover, a third artist will exhibit at PhMuseum Lab (Bologna, Italy) in January 2025 during ArteFiera, the oldest art fair in Italy whose program further comprises more than 80 exhibitions across town.
The work of the finalists (up to 40 projects) will be screened at PhMuseum Days (Italy) and other festivals soon to be announced. Six applicants selected by the PhMuseum team will be able to get their work reviewed by a mentor from PhMuseum Education. Prize recipients, honourable mention awardees, and several selected submissions will be promoted on the PhMuseum channels throughout the year.
To enter, you are invited to present one or more projects featuring between 5 and 20 images. The theme is open and all photographic approaches are welcomed. All entries will be reviewed by an independent jury comprised of David Campany (Curator and Writer), Penelope Umbrico (Visual Artist), Lebohang Kganye (Visual Artist and Photographer) and Kensuke Koike (Visual Artist). The review will happen in March with the shortlist to be announced in early April.
Over the years, the PhMuseum Photography Grant has grown into a leading photography prize, awarding photographers like Max Pinckers, Poulomi Basu, Jacob Aue Sobol, Diana Markosian, Alejandro Cartagena, Bieke Depoorter, Camille Lévêque, and Tomas van Houtryve, among many others. We look forward to continuing this tradition and discovering new voices!
The deadline is set for 15 February, while there is a reduced entry fee option until 25 January.
